Connecting Science-Society Network for Sustainable Development was established on May 11th, 2016 by thirteen partners from Albania, Kosovo and EU, who pledge their unconditional support to deepen and strengthen the relationship between science and society community in order to tackle issues concerning sustainable development.

The idea of this network is to strengthen the collaboration between HE institutions in Albania and Kosovo with regional stakeholders. The network will be inclusive, will bring “everyone on board” and develop strong relationships and shared responsibilities among universities, research institutions, NGOs and private sector. Hence people from different disciplines and organizations, who are working in the field of sustainability, will become better connected. HEI will widen their education and research activities by focusing on societal and regional challenges and hence assume its responsibility to serve society.

One activity of the science-society network will be to foster education and learning for sustainable development by involving regional stakeholders in university courses and applying innovative teaching resources. On the basis of collaborations in university education:

1.         Students will learn about and identify with their region and be able to apply theoretical concepts in practice, and

2.         Network partners will experience further research potentials, which could lead to regional innovations.

Thematic topics that will be dealt with in network activities shall focus on sustainability related issues in order to address regional challenges and demands (regarding environment and society), in order to promote the importance of sustainability
